What did I learn this week?
Many things, but there are a few things that stuck out the most in my
studies.
First was a quote from Greg
McKeown "If you don't prioritize your life, someone else will."
("Launching Leaders," Chap. 2 pg. 68) This quote hit me hard. I have learned through my life that it is
okay to say, "No." It took me
many years to understand that I could not, and should not, say yes to everyone
and everything. I have learned that when
I feel uneasy, uncomfortable, or "sick-to-my-stomach" after
committing to something, I have made the wrong decision. The Spirit has let me know that I need to
make a course correction, and I am miserable until I follow the promptings I
receive.
I also love the advice to make
God my constant reference point and my co-pilot. I don't always make essential decisions with
God as my co-pilot. So many times, I go
solo, and I'm not very good at it.
Making God my focus in every aspect of my life will help me
immensely.
I also learned about “The
Formula” from Jim Ritchie. He teaches
six steps that are the formula for success in this life.
1. Get Up Early
2. Work Hard
3. Get Your Education
4. Find Your Oil
5. Make Your Mark
6. Give Back
These steps seem simple but very
empowering!
Everything I am learning is
helping me align my will with God and have a personal relationship with
Him. To have my Primary Motivation be
the love of God, and my fellow man should be my goal in everything I do. My Heavenly Father knows me better than
anyone else. He knows what is best for
me and what will bless me in my life. If
I can strive to know and do His will each day, I will become the person I truly
want to be.
