This week has been overwhelming,
exciting, discouraging, and enlightening. I have had doubts about this
new adventure as well as excitement to learn new skills and knowledge. As
my week and assignments progressed, I have felt better about my choice to learn
about entrepreneurship. As a 53-year-old
grandmother beginning my educational journey in earnest, I often wonder,
"What was I thinking!" But
each class I complete, I feel a great sense of accomplishment and
satisfaction. I am proud of myself for
getting out of my comfort zone and improving my future.
A few things have stood out to me this
week. Pres. Bednar's talk, "Your
Whole souls as an Offering to Him," spoke of Sacrifice and Consecration. I am sacrificing a lot of time to obtain an
education, but I need to consecrate that education to "a sacred
purpose." That spoke to me. If I keep that focus throughout my college
career, I can find what the Lord has in mind for me. Then, I can be used to
further His work in whatever manner that may become.
I am intrigued to learn to
"fail quickly, cheaply, and often," as Jeff Sandefer talks about in
"Living Life as an Entrepreneurial Hero." He says that we need to "embrace failure
as a friend." I am afraid of
failure, so the idea of failing often and embracing it is a new concept. I am excited to learn all about it!
I don't know how to share the URL
for my blog post. So I have been searching on Google to learn how to share my
URL for this assignment correctly. I
will be experimenting until I get it right. I will share what I find in next week's
post.
I am looking forward to finding
my purpose so that I can make a difference in my world. I have some ideas that have popped into my
head as I have read different assignments this week. I want to find a way to
share my love of reading with my deaf granddaughter. I have loved reading to my children and love
to read to my grandchildren now. My
granddaughter loves to look at books that I read, but I want to share more of
the experience with her. I am setting a
goal to spend 10 minutes a day learning a children's book in ASL. Sharing stories through ASL is where I will
start!
